How to live a fitter, happier and more productive life

After a wee break, I always tend to get inspired. Spending time with friends and family makes me realise what is really important in life and in the spirit of sharing, I am going to throw out there everything I know about living a fitter, happier, more productive life.

I'm only human. I don't always do these things myself, but I am working on it. So here are some gems to get you thinking and to implement in your life where necessary.

Love what you do

Above all else, success is a matter of persistence. Hard work and consistency are the critical keys many people lack, but work ethic can be developed. How? With PASSION!

If you feel you are unmotivated, it is probably because you are missing that passion and that you are being forced to work on something you couldn't really care less about.

So, find what you love and do it.

There will still be times when you want to give up, but the difference TRUE passion makes is that even when you WANT to quit, you won't.

Get a coach

If you want to get better at something but aren’t prepared to take advice from someone more experienced, you are either arrogant or lazy. I am thankful for all my coaches in life (you know who you are).

Know your problem and how to fix it

Work on gaining strength until strength is not your problem. Work on losing weight until weight is not your problem - but don't fool yourself; getting stronger can help you solve the problem of being weak, but it can't help you touch your toes. You need mobility for that. And remember you cannot be good at everything.

Happiness is gratitude

Take the time every day to write down 2-3 things you currently overlook, but that are good in life. Talk about them as if they are fresh and new.

For example: you may not appreciate your dog/cat/pet as much now as when you first got him or her. That is the problem of ‘exposure’. When we are around something a lot we sometimes lose sight of how happy it (or he or she) once made us.  But this happiness can be restored by the simplicity of a reminder. Put pen to paper - I don't care if you think it sounds silly - just do it, and see what happens.

You get out what you put in

I don't believe you get everything you want in life, but I do believe everything happens for a reason.

If you want to be loved and appreciated, show love and appreciation!

If you want to be helped, be helpful!

If you want to receive, GIVE!

Avoid contamination, and carefully select the friends you keep - you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. Find people who pull you up, not put you down.

Take responsibility for EVERY aspect of your life

It's easy to deny things and blame-shift.

Don't sit around wishing life was easier. It's not going to get easier without effort, but it can be simpler.

Be smart and make yourself stronger in every way.
