We see it every year: it’s freezing before work and dark after, the comfort food is calling and people’s exercise motivation is lacking. So we decided to put together an introductory fitness challenge, with huge incentives and no gym membership needed.
With $1000 cash and $1000 worth of personal training up for grabs for the best transformation, and $500 of personal training for the best female and male participants, we quickly assembled a great crew of motivated people.
Over 6 Weeks they tackled:
- A goal setting session
- An initial testing session
- A personalised programming session
- 6 large group training sessions
- 12 fitness challenges (2 per week)
- 6 weeks of nutritional tracking
- A final testing session.
All of this was supported by a Facebook group, where people posted their challenge results, cheered each other on, received daily updates from Re:create trainers and shared their own ideas on how to make the most of the challenge.
It was awesome to see strangers complementing each other on their efforts. Over time, people created new friends and began joining each other for the challenges. The group were infectious and they worked their butts off!
Now that we are hitting spring, we have a massive group of people who are fitter and stronger, and we're pretty damn proud of them all!
Our overall winner: Scott Pennell
Scott lost 10kg in 6 Weeks and dropped over 6% body-fat - perfect timing as he's getting married in just under a month.
The most amazing measurement was the whopping 12cms off his waist. Scott is a busy man and things have really ramped up at work lately. Because of this, exercise and nutrition where the first things to go.
The 6 Week Recreation was the structure and focus he needed to get back on track. He smashed his weekly challenges and focused hard on his food diaries to make sure he was fueling his body and his training right.
Best female transformation: Alex Harvey
Alex lost 4.9kg and 4% body-fat. She absolutely killed the challenges, including completing 110 Burpees in one go! She also joined in with others she only met during the programme.
Best male transformation: Phil Hawkes
Phil lost 8kg and 5% body-fat in 6 weeks. This included 10cm off his waist and his pictures are incredible! He also smashed out a 1.32 minute 500 metre row – machine!
